Feeling Polluted? A Foot Bath Can Help!

The world is full of contaminants in the air, water, food, and a lot of other pollutants. Toxins are a poison that can affect the body by internal or external means. A toxin can be a chemical which occurs naturally or in synthetic form. When a particular toxin overwhelms the normal excretion mechanisms, the body produces inflammation in the area of the toxin trying to rid itself of the problem. These inflammatory areas signal the start of a disease. They are actually signals the body is sending, stating that it cannot rid itself of accumulating toxins. If the toxins remain, they will store in areas such as fat cells, cysts, polyps or tumors. After years, the toxins move into body cells and tissues which later produce degenerative diseases as cancer, diabetes, arthritis, and heart disease.

Children’s Cold Medicine NOT For Kids

When a baby is sick, it is very difficult for them because they cannot tend for themselves, but what is a parent to do? They can start by making sure they are giving their kids the right kind of medicine.

In the year 2007, major cough and cold manufacturers removed their medicines from store shelves for children 2 and younger. The FDA is banning remedies for kids 6 and younger because they do not work and could otherwise harm the child.

In addition, these medications do not help kids sleep better but are associated with hyperactivity. I would take a snotty sleepy baby anyday over a snotty awake baby. So what kind of medication is recommended? Ibuprofen (Motrin, Advil) and Tylenol treat body aches and fever and thus making the baby more at ease. Tylenol is safe for kids as young as 3 months old, while Motrin and Advil is safe for children as young as 6 months old.

Another safe recommendation would be saline nose drops to help thin and loosen mucus. You are also able to make your own by using a half teaspoon of salt and eight ounces of tap water so you can help your baby while saving a buck. Try two or three drops in each nostril several times a day for kids of any age, and for infants apply the drops before their meals.

It is very important for children to stay hydrated because their body loses fluid when sweating it off through a fever. In addition, a humidifier is recommended to loosen phlegm or even sitting with your child near a steamy shower for up to 15 minutes. Remember, to keep your child’s head elevated at least 30 degrees to help drain mucus.

Lastly, schedule a visit with your doctor if no changes have happened withing 3-4 days since you’ve tried any of these recommendations.

Sleep And Its Effects On Productivity

In any large business it is hard to keep up with every individual and monitor whether or not they get plenty of hours of sleep. However, when the productivity of employees begins to cost companies billions, what do they do?

Corporations are experimenting with wellness programs on weight, physical exercise, and nutrition to improve productivity. Question is, does it work?

According to the better sleep council, studies show that nearly 40% of workers suffer from fatigue, and lack of sleep makes many dislike their jobs. In fact, researchers have determined that 24 hours without sleep, or a week of sleeping 5 hours a night, is the equivalent of an elevated blood-alcohol level.

However, with some of the tolls people’s jobs take on their lives it is difficult for people to wake up to the importance of sleep. What kind of action will you take to not become one of those people losing sleep over work?

Osteoporosis Should Not Be Your Downfall

Osteoporosis is thought to be a normal part of aging or as the secondary effect of certain drugs on the body. However, research has proven it is actually an imbalance between the cells that break down old bone and the ones that build it up.

The process is meant to operate together as a balance to keep your bones strong and healthy throughout your lifetime but when it is thrown off, osteoporosis occurs.

Treating and curing osteoporosis is an important development. Fortunately, researchers are hard at work to create a new generation of drugs that aim to build bone and re-create what is necessary for healthy bone growth.

Were you aware that osteoporosis can be a serious factor for even young people? There is a risk for younger women who weigh less than 127 pounds. Not to mention young women who are on contraceptive treatments that in time cause lower bone density. People in their 20’s reach what scientists call peak bone mass, which is the most bone you will ever have.

One of the ways to prevent injury is for you to get your bone mass tested and taking the recommended amount of calcium and vitamin D. Weight lifting is also another way to build bone, even for elderly people.

Hope for Regeneration

Are you able to imagine no longer waiting for the call on a new organ donor being found for you or a family member?  Studies are being done to find the way to restore human digits and body parts.

Scientists are within reach of therapies that will regrow digits and limbs, cartilage, nerve cells, and even whole organs. There are many cases in which people have lost function of some part of their body and without much hope for reconstruction. When it comes to organ donors, there is a long wait for the next person to receive a donation.

With the help of several researchers there is hope for people with conditions such as spinal-cord injuries, spinal reconstruction, knee ligaments, and even restoring cardiac function in heart-failure patients. Always maintain hope and keep yourself updated in opportunities for body regeneration and restoration.
